What do you think he had in mind when he wrote these lyrics? I understand the Bodhi Tree, the living like a deity, look good na'ked, but cannot make sense of this Jesus really died for me rope-dancing, nor do I see art in simple sentences without a clear message. Cutie-boy, either be more artistic or have a stronger opinion.
I love old hymns for their depths and theological validity, contrary to the present day mishy-mashy emotional junk we sing in churches. It is not by accident that my favourites are the psalms with Hebrew tunes. This hymn really spoke home, about my present status. Thank you, Friend!
1. Once it was the blessing,
Now it is the Lord;
Once it was the feeling,
Now it is His Word;
Once His gift I wanted,
Now, the Giver own;
Once I sought for healing,
Now Himself alone.
It wouldn't do justice to leave you with Evanescence, not telling you that I am also singing in Hebrew, namely this:
There are still too many men in my head and too many glances exchanged. It has been an intense week so far, the least to say. Haven't drunk kosher plum brandy, but I am going to have dessert tomorrow. And today, 4 dl of Sabernet Cauvignon, I know, you have no clue. Sing with me, from the depths... This is my Messianic song.
This is my buddy, Sanyi singing. I hardly listen to him sing, when we rarely bump into each other we talk and I almost always forget what an amazing voice he has, although it might not be the best song to prove that or it's the most perfect song for it after all. See why:
You have to punch the knuckles very hard. This man, way above 100 kg had a pretty distorted face when I finally found the right spot to punch... And it keeps me in shape, seemingly.
And the result is Tarsem with Christ Martin. Having danced around the flat, having consumed my glass of red wine with the proper complementary ingredients, I am now smiling. God put a smile on my face.
Oh my... This is music... I made up my mind. For progenitorial purposes Idan Raichel is the one, as I have already said. But as of today, the gypsy band Amaro Del was overcome as far as liveliness is concerned... Still can't believe... The Balkan Beat Box simply rocks... we were jumping, dancing, smiling throughout the entire concert and I spent all day today in semi-asleep thankfulness that they came. And not only because of Dylan's 20-year-old version with cigarette sticking out of his mouth (Uri)! :)
They are a must and here is the list of their upcoming concerts. They are going to make you move... this time they haven't even used all the instruments they could have. They don't update neither the photoblog nor the shots on their website, but if you would like to get a feel of the concerts it's worth checking them out! And listen... no - go to a concert!!!
...you listened to a cassette? I mean by putting a cassette into the player/deck and sit down to listen? Well, have been doing that this week, since I found once again one ever most favourite soundtrack, that of Arizona Dream's. And just now did I realise that though Iggy Pop is not someone I'm easily affiliated with, he did leave and is leaving a mark on many spheres of life (not just music) and definitely this movie and I owe him a lot. There is no need to go into great detail about my devotion to Goran Bregovic, he is simply great. Period. But here comes another twist. Some of you already know how much I hate TV and what methods I have developed to control its influence on me over the last 13 years. So if you add up all these precious aspects - the movie itself, Goran Bregovic and Iggy (yes) - you aren't surprised if I say the TV Screen is somewhat an ars poetica of mine? Enjoy!
Just returned from the Palace of Arts (again, yes... we haven't pitched tents there... yet), this time to listen to Dresch and his Quartet. Amazing music, a combination of French Jazz (to me), Indian, Gypsy, Hungarian folklore. One of the reasons why I love jazz is its similarity to life... several different instruments, seemingly doing their own stuff but the result is glorious harmony! It was a dream evening, a tale-telling event, a place of journey on the wings of music. Beautiful! This is the only video I found on youtube:
